In honor of former TLCS Parent and Baltimore City Firefighter, Lt. Kelsey Sadler, who lost her life in the line of duty on January 24, 2022, Trinity Lutheran Christian School created this memorial scholarship to benefit children of first responders (police officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMT’s, 911 dispatchers, military service members and veterans).

This scholarship is:
⦁ awarded in partial or full scholarships for a single academic year.
⦁ based on first responder connection, financial need, academic standing, and achievements/leadership in the arts, sports and community service.
⦁ renewed annually depending upon the availability of funds, the applicant’s financial need, and the recipient’s academic record.
⦁ applications are reviewed by a committee. Priority is given to students whose first responder parent has suffered a line of duty disability, line of duty death, demonstrated the greatest financial need and/or had a profound impact in the first responder profession/community.
⦁ Applicant’s student must be the biological, adopted or step-child of a police officer, firefighter, EMT, paramedic, 911 dispatcher, military service member, or veteran.
⦁ Applicant’s student must be enrolling in a grade between Kindergarten and 8th grade at TLCS.
⦁ Applicant's student must be enrolled during the entire academic year. If the student does not complete the academic year at TLCS for any reason, tuition must be paid according to the TLCS tuition policy as if no scholarship had been awarded.
⦁ Applicant’s student must have good academic standing and maintain a 2.7 out of a 4.0 grade point average (80 out of 100 point scale), or the equivalent as documented by the school.
⦁ Applicant’s student must be making satisfactory academic progress toward the completion of their curriculum and documented by the school.
⦁ Applicant’s student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
⦁ Applicant/Applicant’s student must qualify for free/reduced lunch, other public assistance, or have other extenuating financial circumstances (medical bills, another child in school, etc.).

a. not to exceed 700 words summarizing your personal/professional experience/achievements
b. What is your first responder story?; How will your child benefit from receiving this scholarship?
⦁ Please provide any additional information about your student (past school experiences/personal history) that think will help TLCS know about your student.
⦁ All documents must be submitted at the time of application and by the deadline 9/16/22.

⦁ Current Trinity Lutheran Christian School employees and members of their immediate families are not eligible to apply.
⦁ Scholarship recipients meet eligibility and must reapply for their scholarship each school year.
TLCS strives to assist as many students as possible. Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award via phone, email and a signed letter. Students selected for The Lieutenant Kelsey Sadler Memorial Scholarship will receive a confirmation receipt outlining the amount that has been paid towards their tuition in early fall.
